Scripture: Ephesians 5:1-2
“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. ”
Before getting married, we are so infatuated and all dreamy-eyed about all the amazing qualities of our spouses. After getting married, the focus seems to change to the flaws that are rearing their ugly heads and it becomes about what they don’t do anymore, what they neglect, what they need to fix and so on.
Today’s devotion has reminded DH and I that if we focus on imitating God by loving each other then we will focus less on the ‘sins’.
Instead of waking up and asking yourself, “Am I happier today than I was yesterday?” how about praying, “Lord, how can I love my spouse today like she [or he] has never been or ever will be loved?”
