Scripture: 2nd Corinthians 7:1
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
Marriage is God’s institution and design. Marriage is also the one place that constantly tests our holiness. And being a God-centered spouse means that we are committed to pleasing God and being holy than the response we get from our spouses.
Things that contaminate the body and spirit include jealousy, bitterness, pride, resentment, selfishness etc. This is hinder a wife or husband from (re)acting in a Christ-like manner. We are called to gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control. My spouses sin or wrongdoing does not give me the license to respond with wrongdoing. The motivations for my actions toward my spouse should always be reverence for God.
Thank God for His grace and strength that He willingly gives us daily to be Godly towards our spouses.
